Rohit Verma does not believe in overnight success. "There's no shortcut," he says simply. And his JEE Advanced rank of 89 in 2022 backs that claim up entirely.
The Foundation at DPS
Rohit credits his Class IX and X years at DPS for building the study habits that would see him through two years of JEE preparation. "Our Maths teacher, Mr. Anand, used to say: 'The problem you avoid today is the question you get wrong tomorrow.' I never forgot that."
Managing the Pressure
The years between Class X and JEE are intense for any student. Rohit dealt with pressure by maintaining a strict 7-hour sleep schedule, taking one full day off every two weeks, and staying away from social media during study blocks.
On Mentorship
"I reached out to a DPS senior who was at IIT Delhi through the alumni portal. He answered questions no coaching institute could answer — about hostel life, about choosing a branch, about what the first year actually feels like. That conversation changed how I thought about the goal."
Rohit is now in his third year at IIT Bombay studying Computer Science. He has registered as a mentor on the DPS alumni portal and welcomes messages from Class XI and XII students.
